Missed calls and text when in sleep mode

When my phone is in sleep mode, I do not receive calls or text. I have a unlocked Z3 (model D6603). I have tested the problem with stamina mode on and off. No difference. In my testing, the phone works 100% of the time when awake, but when sleeping, in the same location, the calls are never received. I asked sony about this, and as always, they suggest run through pc repair, which won't work on unlocked phone. This wont work on unlocked phone. I have done factory resets and it has not helped.

So, has anyone else seen this behavior? Any suggestions on what to look at?

I see that you have unlocked the bootloader, and used EMMA, you should reflash the phone, keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty and the DRM keys are forever gone.

Thanks. I have reflashed the phone. One thing I am trying is changing my preferred network to 3g/GSM.

I have flashed the phone in the last month. What has helped is changing the preferred network to 3g/GSM.

4G/3G/GSM, which works perfectly fine when the phone is awake.

Very reliable. I live in a large metro area with excellent coverage from att. My wife’s phone has no problem and my work cell phone has no problems. I dont miss calls or text when the phone is awake and the preferred network is 4g.

Hey md20. I too had a similar problem. I purchased my z3 directly from Sony's website last year. My issue was that it would randomly stop receiving text messages and phone calls. I wouldn't know anything about it until someone would tell me.

I had one weekend I missed 9 calls from my father, 5 calls from my wife, and 3 calls from my boss. When I found out late Sunday evening that this took place, I rebooted my phone only to receive 7 text messages.

The funny thing is, that I would still get voice mails. That is how I knew I missed some calls. I would be surfing the web, or reading email, or something and all of a sudden get a voice mail. I would call that person and would be told the same thing. 2 rings, then voice mail.

I tried erasing the phone and starting over with Sony's PC Companion, backup and restore, new sim cards (yes, more than 1) and nothing would change it. It would just continue to take place.

I sent my phone in to Sony and am currently waiting to find out what the verdict is.

Mine was completely stock. I didn't unlock the bootloader or anything. I hope to get a fixed phone back, as I have the nexus 5x in the mean time, and actually prefer the z3 to it. I use my phone mostly for work, and the z3 battery life is much better, even after a year of use and cycles on the battery, it still lasts about 40% longer doing the same tasks.

Perhaps you can flash the radio?

I hope you get a fix for yours. If I hear anything back from Sony on mine, I will come back and let you know what the result is.

Your problem sounds very much the same as what Im experiencing. I have seen a few other similar post about the same type of issue with the Z3 series, but no answers. Im am very curious as to what sony finds on your phone. Please do let me know.

Not sure about flashing the radio, seems tricky.

Settings > about phone > status > signal strength do this with both phones

also

which android version and build number does your phone has?

I have seen the missed calls with a Z3, Z1 and T2 Ultra with AT&T but not texts.

Andriod version 5.1.1

Build 23.4.A.1.200

4G signal -85dBm to 95dBm on my Sony phone. The work phone is a Windows phone. No easy way to check signal strength.

Dont think it is a matter of signal strength. The phone works fine when awake. I think something causes a disconnect when the phone goes to sleep and it is in 4G.

Does anyone from Sony read any of these posts? Just curious because nothing seems to happen with anything posted on the support forums.
