Phone keeps going blank

My screen keeps going blank still receive calls texts etc but no way of answering them sometimes resetting the phone by taking SIM card out works but majority of the time it stays blank had the phone less than a year so pretty annoyed that this is happening. Can't even switch phone off without using the master switch inside can u please tell me why this is happening and how it can b fixed
