I'm a Sony fan as usual I buy any new Sony flagship mobile, recently I bought z5 premium, unfortunately I'm so disappointed because the screen is not as I expected from Sony If you compare with z3, you will see a much better quality screen and better details due higher screen brightness on z3, 4k technology it doesn't make diffrant if you have lower brightness, the z3 screen is the best screen even if you compare with iPhone or Samsung screens

Z5, Z5 compact and z5 premium they are almost same brightness, Z3+ is better but Z3 is the best screen especially when you put super vivid options makes the screen amazing!!

I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy with the display brightness in Z5 Premium.

The maximum display brightness in Z5 Premium is the same as in Z3, 600 candela.

If you see a difference it could be because of adaptive brightness, you can try disable this under Settings -> Display and then adjust display brightness manually.

The maximum display brightness in Z5 Compact and Z5 is 700 candela.

When you enable adaptive brightness, it will still base the brightness on what you have selected under brightness level. So if you want the display more bright, you need to slide the slider to the right with adaptive brightness enabled.

But we are aware that when you unlock the screen, the display brightness might be too bright for a few seconds before it's reduced to normal levels. This will be fixed in the update to Android 6.0.

Hi @Rickard when will android 6.0 be available? The adaptive brightness bug is so annoying and I'm forced to disable it until it's fixed. Also the mobile radio active bug in lollipop needs fixing. Check my recent post regarding this.

Thanks for your reply Mr @Rickard

Actually the adaptive option is disabled, I very experienced on Sony devices
Z3 is one of the most brightest phones screen, this is not only my experience, even the famous Web site phonearena, they shows that z3 brightness screen score about 750 nits and z5 about 600 Nits only!!
But I can't deny that Sony phone screen has better details and colors better than Samsungs which are too dark colors and not real colors and better than iPhones which are too light colors and it doesn't has that Sony's details..

Is it possible to increase z5 premium's brighteness in the new update?!!!!

I don't know if that's possible but i will forward the feedback.

I'm afraid i don't know why they measured that difference. The specification i have for Z3, Z3 Compact and Z5 Premium gives the same display brightness, 600 candela. Z5 and Z5 Compact is a bit brighter though, 700 candela.

But as i understand it, the display brightness may also be adjusted depending on what's being displayed on the display. Display settings like white balance could also make the display look darker.
