I'm getting exactly the same, my battery life is non-existentsince the update to Marshmallow. My Z5 Compact continually hunts for a signal, the signal bars disappear and then immediately return with a full signal.

Does anyone know if Sony support read these or so we have to raise a ticket somewhere?

This is my first Sony phone and most likely my last.

Hi guys,
I have a massive problem after my update to Android 6. My Z5 compact's phone signal drops like clockwork about every 10 seconds and draining battery considerably. During the night I've lost around 30% of battery life.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I've already posted about this. The best assistance offered by the Forum assistance is to switch preferred mobile connectivity to WCDMA from 4G/LTE.

Since the switch my mobile stability has increased out of sight, and so has battery life. Heat has also reduced.

To me it is a bug in the code.

@Sync0s, thanks for the interim fix. This has immediately resolved the signal issue and thus the battery life - I will continue to monitor.

Overall this problem is very disappointing from an otherwise excellent phone, having to use 3G on a 4G phone is not what I expected when I made the purchase. Sony might want to think about testing their software before release.

MM has an option under battery called battery saver, which is like a low battery profile. I've set mine to turn on @ 5%, but you can make this higher if you want.

Someone else posted about DND mode, and there is an option for setting a time limit, although it's not in the same section just using the volume down button. Use your inner search and find it.

Ever since I've updated to Marshmallow 6.0, my phone constantly has no signal. I have checked with my friends who uses the same internt service provider and he says there's nothing wrong with it. Turning airplane mode on and off like how others have suggested works but it returns to no service within minutes.

I have a very similar issue.Till the update my battery & signal was working ok. But after the update my signal keeps fluctuating so much the battery also drains in half the time.I'm using Z5 E6683 on Build number 32.1.A.1.185, When I check sim service state my voice and data switches consantly between 'in service' and 'out of service'. My signal also varies between -75 to -81 and also suddenly drops. To make matters worse I tried to do a repair using xperia companion, but after switching on the phone with volume down and connecting the usb cable it only goes into safe mode and does not attempt to repair the OS. I've have been using the phone like this for over two weeks. I bought this cos of my PS4, blueray and Bravia w800c. I'm now starting to miss my Samsung S6 edge. Anyone's help is much appreciated...

Hi Syncr0s,

Thank you! Seems to have fixed the immediate issue. The signal seems to be stabilized and does not fluctuate as previously. I will monitor for couple of days and revert to the group.

Cheers again

Sujith

Follow up - 27 May 2016

'@' Syncr0s - Signal loss was address pretty well. Haven't noticed the same issue as before. Thank you!. Overall I still beleive the battery consumption could improve.

'@' Sony - pointless creating a phone with LTE when the customers can't use the functionality...

My z5 compact drops calls frequently - sometimes every few seconds on a call. I can't remember the last time I made a call that didn't drop! I had the phone repaired last month but the same problem remians. I have switched off smart call handling thinking that this was triggering an incorrect end to a call, but it hasn't made a difference. I have also uninstalled call over wifi apps like O2 Tu go - no difference.

Great camera, great memory, not a phone.... come on Sony!
