Nothing is blocking the sensor. There was a screen protector before, but the protector had a cut out especially for the sensor. I even took of the screen protector and cleaned the face and still it happens.

Before the screen used to go off whenever I put the phone to my face like it should. Now it goes off forever. And double tapping the screen does not wake it up.

Even if the sensor is damage. Surely there should be a way to turn off this function for situations like this.

I've literally had enough of this. The phone will just remain blank until the call has been ended. I had to turn on the function to allow the power button to end calls, because without that my phone becomes useless, meaning I'd have to wait for the person on the other line to cut the phone off.

It happens with WhatsApp calls as well.. The phone just remains blank. I can't do anything about it. And the power button doesn't work with WhatsApp so I can't even cut off the phone during a WhatsApp call.

Also note that the screen goes blank as soon as I start dialling. So with WhatsApp, so many times I've accidently called someone with no possible way to cut the phone off. And with WhatsApp dialling, it pretty much goes on forever.

What's wrong with my Z3 contact? I've tried soft reset, rebooting etc.

Hi!

I think that this has to do something with the calling sensor. This is a sensor next to the Sony logo on your Z3, when you are calling, your screen should go off when you have you're phone to you're ear. When not, as you describe, is there maybe someting (like a case) that is blocking the sensor?

Dirk

Hi @MA_XCIV,

You can test this sensor directly in your phone.
Go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Ear proximity. When you perform this test the phone should only vibrate when you cover the top of it.

You can also try making a call in safe mode to see if this could be caused by a downloaded third party app.

I just did the ear test. It wouldn't stop vibrating. Didn't even put the phone to my ear. So it's definitely faulty.

So what can I possibly do.? Can I not just turn off the sensor?

There is no setting in the phone that allows you to disable the sensor. I suggest that you contact your Local support for further information on how to get your phone examined and repaired.
