I got my brand new Sony aqua m4,as advertised the phone takes underwater pictures, but it seems to work only with the selfie camera, in the Sony ad videos and advertising pictures the phone seems to work with rear and front camera, what is going with that? I feel I was been lied to

How exactly are you using the device when submerged, are you making sure to only use the Camera button on the side of the device, as screen touch capture is not going to work correctly.

You will need to supply more in depth information regarding the issue.

Is the camera set to Back camera mode first or do you have it set to Front camera mode before putting it in water?

Also I do not suggest you use any features other than the physical camera button on the side of the device when in water, if you wish to change modes bring it out of the water then change it.

Not a good idea, the chlorinated water will corrode the seals
