How so? Are you having issues during normal phone calls or while using the mic with other applications?

If you think the problem is due to the 5.1 update you can try to reinstall the update with Sony PC Companion.

But I would first boot on safe mode and check how the mic works to check if perhaps its something else causing the issue.

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop
1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu
3. press and hold "power off"
4. Boot on safe mode should become available

Same here. When I make a call the other person can't hear me until I tap loudspeaker on and off, after that they can hear me. If I receive a call they can hear me without me performing the loudspeaker on off routine.
Only been like this since 5.1.1 update.
Reset phone and recovered phone with pc companion but still the same.

I'm also having the same Issue and realize that the real problem relies on Google app. If you disable the "OK Google" recognition on any screen the mic will work as it is..

No, it does not.

I was using ok google detection and google launcher, gave up after this bug. Nope, nothing has changed; same microphone problem is there.

I also have this problem in my Z3... My wife has a Z2 with 5.1 and doesn't have any problem.

Anyway it's big problem have to restart the phone to make a call. Sony doesn't have any solution?

Sir i have a problem with my sony experia z3. When i call them, people from the other line cant hear me but when i unplug my headset they can hear me.I borrow.3 headset w/ my friends but then no changes. I use mesenger skype line all of them they cant hear me. I also try to factory data reset but the problem is still there.

Hi,

I've an issue in my Xperia Z3 Dual, the microphone isnt working during calls and the person on the other isnt able to hear me. But if I run diagnostic test on the mic (from Settings>About Phone>Diagnostics>Test>Microphone) the mic seems to be working fine.

And after a restart, the mic is working on calls also.

What could be the problem ? This is annoying that even for making calls, I'm required to restart my phone sometime.

Please help.

Additional Info: Phone updated recently to Android 5.1.1, Build-23.4.A.0.546

There was no such issue before the update.

Could be a 3rd party app causing the problem or it could be that after an upgrade members like myself would recommend a system repair

You could try safemode and testing calls for a while which would indicate an app issue
