1.65 gb is like cheating. It should be atleast 1.86 gb. Has every Xperia C4 has 1.65 gb ram or it's with some phones only?

Hello everybody!

I've just bought Sony Xperia C4 Dual. It's very cool.

But I have a question.

Xperia C4 Dual has 2GB RAM, but when I go to the Running tab in Apps section in Settings, and I add the three types of memory:
System: 736MB, Apps: 297MB and Free: 655MB, it's just about 1.65GB (1688MB) in total!

I just don't understand why this happens. Can anyone please explain this for me.

Thank you!

That is because you only get that much if you convert to binary. From 2GB, you only get about 1,86 and what's left is used by OS.

It's probably with all C4 phones and sony has not been able to provide proper justification for the same. Moreover, the OS takes up a lot of RAM, 800-900 Mb in comparison to other brands, 400-500 Mb.

This is because some RAM is reserved for the graphics processor and core processes and this reserved RAM is not shown under Settings -> Apps -> Running. This is not specific for Xperia C4, you will see the same thing on most Android devices.

I haven't checked any Lenovo but yes, there may be Android devices that has dedicated memory for the GPU for example or that shows that memory in Android.

But if you want to read more about it, try to search Google for "android shows less ram" or similar.
