Numbers in SMS not recognized?

Hi,

I have one question. I have recently moved to T3, and I have noticed that when there are numbers within the SMS messages that I receive, they are not “connected” with my contacts, i.e. are not recognized if the number(s) exist in my contact list. On my old (much simpler and cheaper) phones (HTC, ACER), when I received, for example, a SMS from my operator: “You have missed call from XXXXXX”, if I had that number in my Contact list, it will show the name. For me this was very useful feature, that I took for granted.

Now, on this much more advanced and modern phone, it seems that this option does not exist.

Please tell me is there some setting for that, … am I not doing something right… or the feature, simply does not exist?

Thank you…

To be honest I never saw this feature in any phone I held before, if I understood you right you mean the messaging app should read the text withing the SMS, and if it finds a phone number that matches a contact saved on the phone it will replace the number with the name?

When I miss a call I get a message from operator but it appears as if the caller himself sent it, so I get the name in sender field, not withing the text.

Numbers in SMS are absolutely clickable, and when you click on them they will automatically open dialer and paste the number into it, which will be translated into a name if it's already saved in your contacts.

Did you check your Phonebook and make sure that all your contacts has been synced? Usually the numbers appear instead of the link because the is no info for that number in the phone book. If it's a new phone, probably the phonebook contact sync has not been enabled.

Thanks for the replies...

I don't think it's up to the sync either...

It’s really frustrating, because it seems that the same phone in your cases, works differently than mine ??!

I am using this phone for more than 2 months already and it works OK, and I’m quite satisfied with it. This issue with the “numbers in the SMS messages” was the only issue I had so far with my T3.

Something that I wasn’t actually noticing in my previous phones,... but now, I miss badly

Actually I have a Z3D, but Sony unifies interface within all models, and it's not a Lollipop feature coz I had it in Kitkat too.

I would be very grateful if somebody from the Sony Xperia Support Team could at least clarify/confirm whether this particular feature (numbers to be shown/displayed as clickable links in SMS messages) is indeed present in the Xperia T3 software and the “problem/issue/bug” that I am experiencing is only happening on my particular phone.

Thank you in advance…
