Mobile Web Data Usage

I checked my usage and noticed that my account had used 1mb even though I had mobile web switched off, why would this be?

My data was recently refreshed over all the time the mobile data was off.

I checked which apps had been using data but always thought that as long as mobile web was off then it would only ever use wifi.

It might be something like sending anonymous usage to Sony or Google or some account syncing, which can happen if data is enabled for a short period of time.

Check with your carrier as some push their network settings and force certain app updates.

So am I understanding this correctly, can the off to mobile web be overridden by the likes of app removal or suchlike?

And there's me thinking I'm doing well having it switched off as I'm using wifi at home, as long as it's the odd mb now and again I suppose it shouldn't be a concern.

I looked closely in my carriers account usage, and throughout that day it used 11kb, but more importantly the description is using the internet.

So what do you take from this?

I know that 5.1.1 has a bug that keeps mobile data active even though you close it, causing extra data usage ( mobile radio ).

According to my carrier it's nothing to worry about being that it's so small amount of data.

I believe it to be the network pinging, similar to the superhub routers which let the network know it's there.

Yesterday was about 11kb in total all spread as 1 or 2 kb over the day.

Yes, that sounds completely normal. And they are right such a small amount of data is almost negligible.
