Mobile data is not at all working after 5.1.1 update

Im from India, idea user. After updating 5.1.1 my mobile data is not working at all.. I have tried download Internet setting auto as well as manual from APN.. But mobile data not at all turning on. I just have to use wifi for whatsapp and other net application. Plz help. Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest that you do a software repair using a PC and PC Companion.

In PC Companion you press start on "Support Zone" > Start on "Update the phone/tablet software" > "Repair phone/tablet" (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

The software repair will remove all data stored in the phone so don't forget to make a backup in PC Companion before you try the software repair. You can do a backup using the Backup & Restore option in PC Companion.

Tried pc companion 6-7 times and got many error.. Finally i manage to reach till end when it ask for turn off phone and connect while holding volume down button. I did it and got update engine error 2003.. I don't understand why give such bug full update that just for get 2g or 3g people need to suffer this much! Sony plz fix this. Started feeling like that was bad idea to buy xperia 2 weeks ago.. 😥

I don't know when il able to connect 3g from my xperia.. Waste of money and time.

Is your phone compatible with your network's 3G frequencies? is or was your phone locked to another carrier/network branded?

Can you check if you need to download the internet settings from your network provider again (or manually set them) ?

I remember i had that once, after i reset the phone (not my current sony phone) just to reinstall same OS. At home i didnt notice it as i was connecting to WiFi. Only when i went out of the house , and thats when i thought my data is not working. All i had to do was download the settings.

Just a thought.

@Shubham54 To my knowledge error 2003 indicates that the phone's software has been modified. Is this something that you know has been done?
If the phone's software has been modified you will not be able to use the update feature of our standard programs.

Thnx for reply uliwoody and harry z1.. I manage to used other operator card in my device and they are connecting to my device as H+ in 15-20 sec!.. My own sim 3G is working on old phone but not here :\.. Il try to replace my sim in day or two and let you know.. And OMG sony/moderator for deleting my previous comments which was just replay to this two guy.. Lame..

I am facing the same problem 3g network isnt working,tried manual connecting its not working,2g network is working perfectly,I m on Vodafone network...

@ Nikpatil... try this stpes. may be u did it already but do it for safer side..

1. make sure ur 3G is activated and working by putting ur sim in other device. if 3G not working plz activate it.

2. try to manage other vodafone 3G activated sim card from frnd and try in ur device. if 3G working then repalce ur old sim with new, if not working then it must be 3G settings prob or u need to repaire ROM from PC companion if not rooted.

Android 5.1.1 may be support new sim only for data.. my sim is 7 years old and its Idea.. 2/3G is not at all working. but when i put my frnds Idea sim (which is almost 6 months old) in my phone then its working perfectly on 3G !.. im not sure but i think it is somthing to do with sim type that is h1, h2, h3 etc.. and 5.1.1 support new version only. that is why i suggest you to replace old sim with new after this steps.

Replaced my old sim with new sim..now 3G Working 100% fine!!.. Finally my mobile connected to 3G..
