No way you'll get that sorted. This is because of noise cancellation which requires additional 5th pin on mini jack. I had the same problem with my Sennheiser headset and even wrote them an email. Here's their response which sheds some light on the issue.

"Unfortunately for non-ios phones, there is no fixed standard among the different phone manufacturers for the specifications needed to control the phone - even if it is running on Android. (In some cases it is not wanted at all to sell their own headsets and accessories.) This is independent of the generation of Android as well.
We at Sennheiser try our best to develop the remote to suit the most number of products and also for the most popular models, however there are occasions when the phone manufacturers develop products that are not compatible and this is unfortunately not within our control. Some customers have told us, that Z2 and Z3 offers a 5 pin headset, with something of Noise cancellation. From my opinion the 4 pin standard plug may be usable but may have different functions if usable at all."

I hope that helps.

I have a pair of Bose Quietcomfort 25 which comes with an Android compatible 3 button incline remote.

Volume up and down works fine, but the middle button (usually used for pause/play, answer/hang up) increase the volume insteaad of its expected behaviour. I have tried apps like Smart Key and Headset remote controller to try and remap the buttons but to no success.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can solve this?

Thanks,
siwan

Sorry to hear that.

I'm afraid i don't have any solution for this. The information i have is that Bose uses Samsung specific design which is not fully compatible with our products. For more information, see this thread.
