Can't save data to SD card

Hai , I'm using Xperia M5 Dual less than one week but I encountered problem that I can't used memory card . When I move apps ti sd card the apps automatically send me error message saying that the apps was stopped and same goes to camera . If i set the the default storage in camera to sdcard the camera failed to save the picture the circle keep spinning .. I had reset my device , memory card and I also have latest software .. Any solution anyone .. Please .. I don't even know either sdcard or my device broken ..

I'd suspect the SD card first, is it possible to test another SD card (preferably of a known and reputable brand)?

Did you format this SD card from phone before you start using it?

What's the specs of your SD cards (Size, brand, speed)?

16 gb , brand ADATA .. After I format it work perfectly but it just for a while ..

I still suspect this SD card, if it worked after a format then stopped working then it might be a defective unit.

If you have access to a PC with a card reader i recommend that you test this SD card using a test software like h2testw. This software can write a known pattern to the card and then reads it back to check if the SD card stores data properly.

My advice again, if possible, get a new SD card with a known reputable maker (Sony, SanDisk, KingStone, Lexar, etc) and format it using your phone before you start adding data on it.

Hi... I got Xperia M5 3 days ago and facing the same problem with memory card.

Already tried 3 different sd cards, formatted in phone and from pc also.

Still same issue. Took it to sony customer support, they reset my phone and updated to latest firmware.

Now it works for a while then again same issue.

So I suspect its something to do with the phone not sd card.

Hope a firmware update will fix this issue.

Hi, I've just bought Xperia M5 Dual last week. I've experienced the same problem. I can't save any pictures taken with the camera to the SD card. Whenever the storage option is selected to SD Card, the circle will keep spinning. No problem when the storage was set to internal. I'm using Sandisk 32 GB Class 10. The SD card is registered to Sandisk online. The card work fine on my Xperia Neo V and my Experia E1. I've formatted the SD card on the PC and on the phone. Any other solutions?

This is due to the SD card.. Sometimes SD Card formats are not supported for some sony mobiles.. This problem also happened to me on my Sony M5 dual. In my case, SD card works completely fine in PC via SD card reader, but in my device, it says sd card is damaged.. Thus, i bought another 8GB SD card with different manfacturer & now it works fine. Therefore, it's better to swap your sd card..

Hello, I recently bought an Xperia M5 and an Micro sd card from samsung and im having this problem too.

Micro sd card is Samsung evo 32gb micro sdhc uhs-1 card

May i know how to solve this problem?i have tried everything but nothing seems to work,

Hi AimanSyazwan,

This problem also happened to me last time.. This is one of weak point of sony that it is incompatible with other manufacturer sd card.I suggest some ways to check your sd card

1. Plz connect your sd card to the PC via sd card reader.

2. Format your sd card with Windows/Mac OS format tool.

3. Make some transfer of files to your sd card. If you can read the file inside sd card, sd card is fine

If above solutions not working, replace your sd card to where you have bought if warranted...

I had the same issue with my M5 Dual. got a new sd card formatted the card, prompted to save my photos while on holiday. while doing the transfer green screened on me. none of the photos transfered on thee sd are viewable. I lost 4days worth of holiday photos. I took that card out, saved photos on my pc when I got home, put a new 65gb card, did the same thing. photos are not viewable. This seems to be a phone hardware issue that a sd card issue.

I have this problem with my M5 Dual as well - as if the shutting down thing wasn't enough of a pain. When I put my SD card in the phone, it copies files and seems okay, but randomly starts dumping files (up to 50gb worth of music and audiobooks in my case) in the lost.dir It's so frustrating, and it wasn't a cheap card.

I'm having the same problem as him. I'm from Malaysia and using Xperia M5 dual. The SD card slot once you slot in will get anonymous file inside but when slot in reader is just back normal and when I slot back to my phone it corrupt again I try 2 type 16gb SanDisk and 32gb Samsung evo still can't solve the problem. Please advise me thanks.
