Hi @stillburnin

Sometimes your device will only connect to a slower GSM (3G) network, not higher speed networks such as LTE (4G).

This is because your device automatically switches between mobile networks depending on what networks are available in different areas.

You can manually set your device to use a particular mobile network mode.

When changing network mode it may take a few minutes until your device reconnects to a network.

To select a network mode:

- From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
- Find and tap Settings -> More… -> Mobile networks.
- Tap Network Mode.
- Select a network mode.

Make sure that your SIM card is working properly, iInsert your SIM in another device to test if 4G connection works ok.

If don't, I suggest contact your mobile network company

I'm at disposal for any question.

Best Regards,

Thanks for the reply xavinux.

I am in a good 4G coverage area.

Sim works on 4G in another phone.

The only modes available in "select a network mode" are

WCDMA preferred

GSM only

WCDMA only

GSM auto (PRL)

CDMA auto (PRL)

It looks to me as though the phone does not support 4G?

Hi @stillburnin

I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information like this:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/Backup-amp-Transfer/m-p/407253#U407253

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion:

http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need tocharge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP.

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone -> Start on Update the phone/tablet software -> Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) -> Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

If it's not possible to perform this software repair, you could check the following FAQ topic regarding USB connection problems:

/t5/FAQ/USB-connection-problems/m-p/348074

Don't forget to mark posts that answers the topic as Accepted Solution.

If you find any post helpful, press Kudos.

I'm at disposal for any question.

Best Regards,

I spoke to Sony Mobile tech support about this and they said the phone definitely does support 4G/LTE.

They said that it is possible the LTE is disabled by the network that sold the phone and to contact them.

The phone I have (purchased used) is network free as far as I know. Not much help for me but if your phone is from O2 it may be worth giving them a call?

my m2 was purchased sim free, i just use an o2 4g sim, so it must be the phone, its not disabled by the 02 network, must be the sony software, i thought upgrading to android five would sort it, i think its down to sony to do a software update my oher phone gets a strong 4g signal and has an lte option.

Try Sonymobile technical support. There is a web chat feature on there which is a lot quicker than sending an email. My daughter has got my M2 so I can't do anything at the moment with it but please let me know if you resolve the problem. Good luck.

Evening All,

I was wondering if anybody had manged to get the LTE option working on their M2? I have the same issue. My phone has been returned to Sony on 2 occasions and has been returned both times with the problem unrectified

As helpful as Sony have been I am feeling very frustrated that they appear unable to rectify this fault.

Any help/advice will be greatly received

The only network options I see are WCDMA, GSM, CDMA as mentioned by other member previously but no LTE.
