save contact to google missing after update 5.1.1

after upgrading to 19.4.A.0.182 i dont see the option to save any contact under google account.

it either asks to create a local contact on phone to add to microsoft exchange.

Is there a way to solve it?

did anyone else notice this problem?

Try removing your Google account and then set it back up or you could try removing or deleting the cache and data from the Google app - Settings then Apps then swipe to All then locate and open said app and tap on the mentioned items then reboot

Any solution yet.... Tried every thing from deleting the cache to factory reset.. Nothing works...

Hi,

tried resetting the handset. Initially it was OK..But after regular app updates the option again disappeared. The problemis that contacts app is not able to include google contacts in its setting. The filter does not show any linked contacts account.

Team SONY XPERIA......is there a solution to this bug?

Got same problem here, .dont know whether the solution will come from google or sony..

Problem when I add a contact. I only have the option to add it local or create exchange account.

This happened after upgrading operating system. Cannot add account to my Google account. The exact message that appears is "your new account will not be backed up. Add an account that backup contacts online" then I have 2 options keep local or add account. Any help?

I have the same problem here. After upgrading to Lollipop 5.1.1 cannot create any google contacts, only local. I read elsewhere (

a guy that said uninstalling whatsapp solved the issue. Reinstalling again and it returns. I haven't tried it yet.

I have the same problem ever since after the update....I tried all the above ones..But still no use..
I can't even update the apps from What's new ie.. Framework, podcast, video, music. It shows could not update....any one pls help

Whenever I try to add a new contact, it's showing a warning that your contact will not be backed up, add an
Online account. When I add account too the same thing is repeating. I tried factory reset and I'm able to Backup contacts on Google drive but after two days the same thing is repeated.

Try to insert your SIM card at location #1.
SIM 2 is not as powerfull as Sim1

A SIM card should be located at SIM#1.
Then it will show save options - including Google acounts - as usual.

Those using sim1 sure did not face this problem. Wish they comment here.

Dear SONY XEPARIA support team,

Kindly get a solution ASAP for the same before the issue spread in social media. Or else it will affect the sale. Becuase contact synching to google account is main feature.

I have the same problem in my xperia t2 but i have 2 sim card when i put both of them i cant use gmail as backup for contacts
Why is this a dual phone when you can only use 1 sim????

I have the same problem ... and i have read somewhere on internet that disabling either any of your sim card and rebooting allow us to save contact to google and this has worked for me but the moment you swich on both SIM cards the option disappers again...

Hope TEAM SONY will solve this issue.
