After i updated the phone to new update, android system always drain my battery really bad. It shows android system use about 40-50 percent in the battery information and higher than screen.

I have factory reset few times like 4-6 times already. After factory reset it solved the problem but it coming back after 2nd or 3th charge even though no app installed and disabled all the unnecessary app. I have turn off all thing like location, sync. I even turn off all connection and listening to music but still android system highest usage in battery.

It all happens after i update to latest software. Before this my battery is amazing. I can get 2 days with 6 hours sot. Hope someone can solve my problem.

Hi folks

Since upgrading my Sony M2 a couple of months back to the latest android version I too had constant battery drain until yesterday.

No, there's no removing apps, going into safe mode hitting the phone with a hammer etc. Infact on my experience yesterday nothing technical either. Below is how I did it and since yesterday over 24 hours now and using the phone for 4 text messages and a single call my battery has dropped by very nearly 10%. Compare that to previously with the phone needing to be charged more or less everyday.

Not saying what I did will work for you, but give it a try:

Xperia M2 latest version of Android 5.1.1

Go to WiFi advanced settings

Select option Keep wifi on during sleep and select Never.
Go back to home screen press the button on side for the screen to go off then put the phone down for a few minutes.

Press the power button for the display to come back on and you should notice that the wifi symbol will start to come on.

Now, follow the steps above, except this time select Always.
Go back to home screen press the button on side for the screen to go off then put the phone down for a few minutes.

And thats all I did.

If like mine, you should notice within a few hours that battery draining has more or less stopped.

Thanks so much for posting the fix. It solved my battery draining problem immediately. I don't know how it works, but it worked.

I've got the same problem of battery draining extremely fast too, like 100% drained in 3 hours, it even drained when it's idle. Charging is really slow too, like 8 hours. I suspect it's because of the draining problem. I'm really happy with the phone now. The only thing now is that it heats up a bit when playing games. Not too hot though. But there are so many good points about the phone. The display is amazing, amazing colour contrast, natural colour, without the image enhancement. Switching to Bravia or vivid kind of distort the colour, so i won't use the image enhancement. Sound better than my previous Xperia Z. The speaker is pretty loud. The sound on speaker won't crack even on maximum volume and it has a really nice low bass to it, not heavy though. Putting on a pair of decent earphones, the audio on clear audio mode is simply superb. The camera is really good. The camera start up isn't the fastest, yet not too slow. It's not an issue for me. I have no problem waiting for 1 second for it to start up. The interesting thing about the camera is if you open by swiping right on locked screen, it'll go to auto mode. If you unlock the screen and you open the camera by pressing the camera icon, it'll go to the setting that you've previously used. i want to share this because i saw in some comments that when they go to the camera, it always go to auto mode and not the setting that they previously used. The phone is fast enough for me. The phone is simply gorgeous. I've got the white version. I just love it. Thanks again!
