Bluetooth headset - No SMS/notification sounds??

I just came from a Nexus 5 running Android 5.1.1 and didn't have a problem with my bluetooth headset playing SMS/notification tones through the headset. That phone broke so I picked up a z3c.

I'm on the latest 5.1.1 and the same bluetooth headset connects, and rings when I get a phone call, but when I get a text message, no sound is played through the headset. This is a problem because I'm a limo driver and I like to hang my phone on the mount and use bluetooth. My rides are dispatched via text, and sometimes I can miss the message.

I can also root the phone and load a custom rom, but I'm wondering why a simple feature like this won't work!

I tried searching the play store for an app, but no dice. Google doesn't really shed any light on this subject. There has to be a way, seems so simple!

I'm afraid that be default, you will not get notifications played over bluetooth. It only alerts for calls.

For our bluetooth headsets that has notifications we have an app for the headset that you download and which then pushes notifications to the headset.

I recommend that you first check if there's any app available for the headset you have in Google Play. If there's no specific app you could try downloading a generic app for it. If you search for "bluetooth notification" in Google Play you should be able to find some apps that may work.

So Sony branded bluetooth heads will allow an SMS notification? Any Sony model? I need to be 100% sure before I go out and buy a Sony bluetooth please. Also, you write that I have to download an app ( I assume Sony) which pushes the notifications to the bluetooth, can you point me toward that app so I can look at it? Is it the Smart Connect app?

I hate to post another topic on the same thing, but my last message didn't get a reply again.

I have a Z3c d5803 with the latest 5.1.1 android. None of the earlier versions play the SMS tone through my bluetooth headset. According to the last message I received and some research

So I went out and bought a Sony MBH20 bluetooth headset. SAME THING! I need to know the name of the app poster Sony Support Richard is talking about please!

Or if anyone knows of an app that will allow such a basic function of alerting you to your text messages through your bluetooth headset would be great. I've tried a bunch, no success.
