Xperia Z5 Dual - sim card & reception issues

I have an xperia Z5 Dual.

Both SIM cards are from the same telco provider. Telstra 4G.

At times it works perfectly. both sims get reception, etc, etc.

Although too often I have a sim that's completely off the air. At the moment it's sim2, but earlier in the day in was sim1. I'm not really sure what's going on. I also get quite different reception indicators on each sim.

Somethings not quite right.

I'm not really a person that fiddles with things, but could I have tweaked a setting that's caused this?

Yes. They are nano sim cards.

sim1 has been in use for quite a while in a couple of previous phones

sim2 is brand new for this phone only

How is your network coverage?

settings > about phone > status > signal

Currently both SIMS are working (always the way), but very different signals.

sim1:: -57 dBm / 28 asu (showing 4/4 bars). Mobile Network Type - UMTS.

sim2:: -101dBm / 6 asu (showing 2/4 bars). Mobile Network Type - EDGE.

For completeness I should also add, that sim2 is my "SIM card for data traffic".

Currently both SIMS are working (always the way), but very different signals.

That's not a good coverage, you might want to double check the APN settings and contact your carrier/network

APN setting won't help with coverage.

Try selecting 3g network or 4g for sim 2.It's seems your sim 2 doesn't have good 2g coverage at your area however your LTE does have. Or you could put both on auto mode.

dont wrry all z5 have bad resecption.

i have z5c and the reception is so ppor to a degree where even when i am out the reception is only two lines or none.

Don't assume that its the phone, are you using a protective case? if you are remove it and check the following

settings > about phone > status > signal strength

Also check your with your carrier/network if there are any coverage issues.

Hi Ashiah ,
Are you using two sims from the same carrier or provider?

If yes, than try to use both the sim with 2g connectivity.

If no, than put the low reception sim on some other phone with same 2g connectivity at the same place and compare the signal strength.

I'm also having this problem with my xperia z5 dual with 4G range.

My colleague and I use 4G network by same carrier and he receives full range on his oneplus 3 and I get one or two network bars with both phones kept in same exact place.
