New M4 keeps restarting

My brand new M4 (dual sim) keeps resetting. I got it on Saturday and when I started it and worked with it for a few minutes it already restarted (screen turns black, starts with Sony/Xperia logos, then purple screen before it opens again, then you need to unlock the sim card again). Sometimes it runs fine for 1-2 hours, sometimes just minutes.

On that same first day, when I was at the home screen, it just stopped doing anything. You kept seeing the home screen, the time stood stil, no button was working (no reset possible). The only option was to wait till the battery ran out (the screen stayed on, so this happened during the night). Today, an hour ago, it restarted and now it is stuck in the purlpe screen after Sony/Xperia logos. No button works, no reset possible, the screen stays on. The only thing to do is wait till the battery runs out again.

I already tried going back to factory settings, that didn't help either.

My questions are, does this happen more often with Sony . And secondly, where do I need to go for support, Sony Netherlands or the webshop (Pixmania)?

I hope they can fix it quickly, I ordered this M4 Aqua because my iPhone stopped working because of water damage. I used iPhones for the last 6 years but wanted to try the water resistant M4 Aqua.

Are you using the correct SIM card size? or did you cut/trimmed it?

you could repair the phone with PCC and report back if it works

Yes, I do use an original nano sim card (Vodafone NL, that worked fine in my iPhone 5).

I will try the Bridge for Mac. But unfortunately I have to wait till the battery runs out since it is in a loop now.

I tried without the SD card before, that doesn't change the situation.

I now removed the SIM as well, but it stays in the loop, so I have to wait till the battery runs out...

I got it out of the loop now.

But also without SIM, without SD, it keeps rebooting (already twice in the last few minutes).

No, unfortunately it didn't work...

I did a full repair cycle, new software, fully fresh install.

Already during the first setup dureing step 4/7 after the wifi, when you setup the google account, the M4 started rebooting again.... To be sure, I started it with no SIM and no SD.

So probably a hardware issue? Does that happen more often with Sony M4's?

Through the Bridge (similar to PCC), I tried all three softwares called Xperia M4 Aqual Dual (why is it in the list 3 times?), but none worked.

I called Sonymobile and they (still) thought it was a software problem. I've sent the phone back to the shop (Pixmania) and they will replace it. So hopefully the next one will be OK.... At least the M4 looked and felt good, so I hope the next one will be fine.

It probably was a hardware problem.

I contacted the reseller (Pixmania) and they replaced the M4 in a few days. The new phone works properly. Very happy with what it does. Not much less than my previous iPhone at a much better price and water resistant (tested while windsurfing) and dual SIM!

M4 Aqua Keeps restarting

Hi all,

Sooooo, I purchased a brand new M4 Aqua 8g a month ago.
After an hour or so i noticed the screen lighting up by itself and the Xperia logo, purple background etc....coming up, only thing is that i donn't have to enter my sim card pin when the screen comes back on.
Had a look at the diagnostic app thingy pre-installed and noticed 56 system incidents occured within an hour of starting it, remember it's brand new.
At that time no apps installed on it, no contacts, pics etc, pretty much a virgin.

Tried to repair with PCC, reset, safe mode, updates etc, nothing worked.
Contact Sony Support Fr -----> send it to us
--->Got phone back 7 days later, nothing wrong with phone
----> Buy a new nano from provider, just in case the sim is faulty
-----> Same thing is happening, so definitely something wrong with phone
---->Not impressed

What to do now, since Sony reckons there's nothing wrong?

Inb4, I've tried everything from this forum and other ones to find out what's going on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from Sony....

Its due to either software or hardware problem , even i was facing same issues with Sony M4 Aqua Dual E2363 (Indian Model) and tried replacing SIM , SD card but nothing worked. How can sony blame on Sim & SD card and its Sony responsibility to do a proper testing before releasing phones to market. Can you imagine how much frustrating for a user who paid 24K for phone and it keeps on restarting or shuts down abruptly. Finally i sold this phone on Reglobe and bought Moto g 3rd gen phone and using same SIM (with micro sim adapter) & SD card without any problems. Shame on Sony for cheating customers.
