No Signal/Bars?

Hello, I purchased an unlocked Sony Xperia Z3 yesterday. I placed my sim in it but the phone keeps saying that there is no service and there is currently no bars. When I try to call it says I am in flight mode even though it is off. I had a friend who had this problem but it fixed itself, do you have any idea how I can fix this or do I have to wait it out?

Is your nano SIM cut or bought like that?

Are you asking if I bought the sim as a nano sim? if you are it is a nano sim, not cut.

Can you perhaps remove it and put it back? Check if the same problem occurs.

Same thing. I also tried putting my sim in another phone and it worked fine.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Ok and how long does it normally take? Also should my phone be off?

If you have a fast internet connection it will take few minutes. The phone should be off.

Could you get a brand new SIM card? was the phone locked to a carrier/network branded

When I purchased the phone it was unlocked. I have a spare sim card here, I will try it and see if it works.

I tried another sim and it didn't work. This happened to a friend a while back and it fixed itself after a day or so, I might try waiting and see if the same happens to me.

i have the same problem.

did all that was recommended in this forum, even the software companion thing, by the advice given by some support representative.

It also occurred to me that after the first time it went signal less, all of the sudden it worked again, then a week later the same situation.

Anyone else with ideas?

did whom originally posted this thread solved the issue or ended dumping the phone?

I had the same prob 3 days after I got mine a year ago,
sent it in,
it came back reset, with a diagnosis of software fault
Been ok ever since
