Xperia Z3+ randomly reboots

My Z3+ randomly reboots multiple times/day(30+). I've tried restoring with PC Companion, hard reset, factory reset, safe mode, everything. I tried running diagnostics but it's a crapshoot. Sometimes I will get a neverending loading loop and sometimes I'll get a error message, "Unfortunately Diagnostics has stopped." and then the phone will reboot iself.

May be your sim card or SD card is gone loose. Try removing both and use your phone for a while and check whether problem persists.

Thanks for replying. I've tried this already without a SIM card or SD card in the phone after a repair over PC Companion. It reboots itself about 15-20 minutes after I go through the initial setup.

If you have tried all the troubleshooting and still no luck finding solution then in that case you need to go to local Xperia care centre and have your device inspected.

I live in the United States and I spoke to someone at Sony Care. He told me that the Z3+ isn't supported in the USA and the repair facility isn't trained with the Z3+.

I am sory I don't live in USA so don't know what regulations you need to follows. So may be you can ask for a refund or a replacement from the place of purchase.

I wish I could return it. The vendor I bought this from will only accept a return for hardware issues and this is clearly a software issue.

Well If you think that the problem is related to your phone's software then how about flashing another region's firmware and check if it helps a bit? See this guide

What kind of service centre doesn't accept the phone for repair which is being sold in the same country?

Sorry. I've tried that and my phone still reboots out of the blue. I even switched to UK and the new USA firmware. Same problem.

I went to the new Z5/Z5C forum and it looks like some of the users with the newest phone are experiencing the same issues.

I ran a repair over PCC for giggles and this is what diagnostics says after 3 days. There's 0 dropped calls so I got that going for me.

As I type this my phone is going through a random reboot so there's actually 115 System Incidents.

Same problem here, 3 random reboots and one sub reboot whatever that means. My device usually freezes then reboots.. Definitely software issues and could be fixed in an update

@Rickard maybe you could comment in this and what would you suggest? Safe mode and repair via pc companion did not resolve the issues. Also when I look at the system incidents it only says the date and time no information.. I have the send usage statistics on and still don't see any log

As this also happens after a software repair, in safe mode and without SIM and SD card i'm afraid it sounds like something that needs to be investigated and repaired at a service location. Have you been in contact with your dealer regarding this? After what you tested i can't see how it would be software related.

A bad SD card or SIM card can cause the phone to restart itself. If you have any SD card, try removing this and also try the phone with another SIM and see if it still happens.

It's definitely software related as yesterday my device rebooted while uninstalling 2 apps... The first one uninstalled fine and then as I went to uninstall the second app nyw device froze and rebooted.. And then uninstalled the app with no problem

@Rickard I've got a genuine scan disk ultra SD which caused me no problems in my z3 as I never had random reboots also using the same sim card my Z3 was fine. I've had my sim replaced my three so my sim is brand new yet I still have random reboots with my Z3+

I know it's a software issue because I can play games out of safe mode with my SIM and SD cards in the phone for hours without a random reboot. It's only when I try to do anything else where I'll get a random reboot.

I've since cut my losses on thing expensive, unreliable brick of a phone and got myself a Z5. The Z5 works just fine. I'm going to sell the Z3+ as soon as I can get it repaired by Sony Mobile USA.
