Z3 microphone noise issue

Hi. I know this is a long running issue from googling.. But while I can hear callers, they can't hear me - they hear static / white noise kind of thing. Loudly. This also happens if I record audio or video.

When I do settings-about phone-diagnostics it does work.

I have turned off Google Now voice and noise supression.

I've tried PC Companion too.

When I do a factory reset it does work - for about an hour or less. This makes me think it's a software issue which kicks in once the app updates kick in after a factory reset.

Can anyone make any suggestions? I'm at a loss..

Yes. It still happens in safe mode

I've tried that too (ny husbands sim).

It happened 2 months ago, but turning off Google voice / noise supression appeared to fix it.

Full factory reset earlier today fixed it briefly.

Welcome to the community.

I would suggest checking to see if this is a potential hardware problem. To use Xperia Diagnostics

Go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics.

Tap Test device.

Select the Charging

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Could you let us know what the results of that are?

If it fails the test have a chat with your contact your Local support team as it will need to be serviced.
