Hi, I just got a z3 this weekend - I received a call on it, and as soon as I started the conversation, there was a buzzing noise on the speaker every time the person on the other end spoke (so not when I was talking).

Is this a problem on my end with my phone, or is it the connection?

Thanks for your help.

Since I have I only had it since Saturday (ie under 7 days), should I assume it is a hardware problem and get a replacement?

Yes I'd also assume the same thing so I'd go straight back to where you bought it from - Normally you would be asked to perform a system repair see below for details but this does indeed sound hardware releated

Performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Ok thank you. Does PC companion store all the apps you installed and the layout also, or just data such as contacts, settings?

Honestly I'm not sure - My backups are different and I'm rooted so my backups include apps and data and can be restored onto any rooted device

PCC by default won't store apps. Thommo,I remember you once said about Helium. Does it work on non rooted too?

If I remember right you can install helium but for non rooted users you need to use it with a Pc program also

Android

Desktop program

I just wiped everything from the phone to test if it was a software issue (backed up everything beforehand), but alas - when I make a call, the speaker still buzzes when the person on the other end speaks. Does anyone else here have that problem when they take calls, or is it indeed a hardware problem?

If so, I will go to the phone provider tomorrow and ask for a replacement...

Many thanks again

Depending on where in the world you are then normally for UK owners if you have had the item less than 30 days then you can get a straight replacement and and will be a new phone not a refurbished one
