Welcome to the community.

This does seem strange, as the names will only show in the messaging app if the contacts are loaded on to the device.

You could try clearing the contacts app data to see if this helps.

Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Contacts > Clear Data

if this does not work, maybe try contacting Customer Care to see if they can supply instructions via phone to help resolve this issue.

Before i reseted my Xperia Z1 i used Sony Bridge to take a full backup. When I try to set up from backup my photos and sms are imported, but not apps and contacts. But when i open contact in the standard sms-app the contact is there, with the name from before the reset. But it doesnt show in the contact list.

1. Any idea why the Sony Bridge wont import contacts?

2. Why my sms has the contact name on the number but it doesnt show in contact list?

Hope someone has a solution to this. I took a backup to avoid this problem, as I have many important contacts that is now gone.

I got it almost sorted out now. It turns out the backup only takes local contacts. Iv got my google-contacts imported now, and if I scroll down on contacts i can see all of them. If i scroll I can se ex. "Jack", but if I search for "Jack" nothing comes up. Wierd! Any idea of how to solve that? Under private properties in the google account the "contacts" app is enabled to search in the google-app.
