Hi, I have the same problem with random letters appearing as I type. Mainly when I try to erase other letters 1 at a time.
I don't have the screen jumping up and down but frequently the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen stop working for a time, say 10 seconds or so. I also have an issue with selecting tabs on the chrome browser. It's difficult to describe but sometimes trying to select a different table pushes all tabs downward except for the last tab. The 'fall' down 1 at a time, regardless of the tab I choose. This is usually coupled with the 3 buttons not working.
Have any of you seen this before?

Hi Guys,

Lately my screen has been a bit erratic when scrolling down a page. When I put my finger on the page and start scrolling down the page jumps up down and up, and sometimes it's hard to stop on the desired spot. It doesn't always happen, and most of the time its not as vilant as I just described.

Is there a way to calibrate the screen, or is this common?

Thanks

Graeme

Check the screen for scratches or cracks under very bright light source. You will see digitiser pattern. It should be identical across the screen. I haven't encounter erratic touch on my z3c. I'd say it is even too sensitive.

I think it's have narrowed it down a bit. The screen will be ok until i scroll slowly, very slowly. Then it starts to jump a bit, and after a bit the jumps are bigger. Now as I type this when I make a mistake and press the back/delete button random letters keep typing like l and p and i
And no my fingers are not huge, they are normal size 😄

Try to reboot your phone... then enter Settings / About my phone (last option) / Diagnostics / Touch Screen / Test

You will get black screen for 10 seconds. During this time draw a yellow line with your finger. Check if it follows your moves. If it does it should mean that the screen itself is fine. If it goes wierd I think you will need to contact Xperia Care and arrange hardware inspection.

I was having a similar problem.

Very frustrating.

Erratic behavior, typing erratic. Touch sceen scrolling opening objects when I wanted to scroll.

Tried the touch screen diagnostics test and failed the test.

Restart, etc no difference.

Read these comments just here and the point about the screen hardware being a possible issue struck me since it failed the diagnositic test.

So I gently used some window cleaner on the screen and hey presto .. good as new.

This is kind of weird. Maybe finger oil the problem?

In any case it is working well now.
