Dust behind camera lens

Over time my phone has accumulated a whitish film of dust or residue behind the main camera lens which is degrading photo quality. How do I fix this?

I rooted my phone to protect my privacy and for other reasons. If I take it to a repair centre to clean the lens will they try to refuse service?

(By the way, I know the Sale Of Goods Act and Directive 1999/44/CE entitles me to a free repair anyway, since this is purely a hardware issue and nothing to do with the phone being rooted. However, I'm just asking this question to know whether I should re-install the original build and minimise the amount of fighting required for the service centre to do their job.)
