Heating up problem is the biggest con after update. The device is getting heated up even when not in use. I do lot of site visits, and just taking the device out in the sun is heating up the phone. Not able to take a video or photographs as the device starts to hang.

Once heated up, the home button stops working first and the other apps one after the other. Is there any solution to fix this heating up problem.

I have read the forums and realised that there are numerous issues with the 5.0 version on the Z3 (and other Z series models) I am a new owner of a Z3 and I have upgraded from Z1C. I have overall liked the lollipop and appreciated some of the features on the Z1C.

Once I have moved to Z3 i have realized that some of the features where already available in the kitkat version for Z3 but not for the Z1C.

Features that were not in the kitkat for Z1C

- flashlight in the notifications bar - recording the screen

- restart function (as opposed to power off)

I liked on the 5.0:

- the access to the SD card

- the alarm timer improvement and the ability to have the timer displayed on the lock screen

- it realy felt smoother on the Z1C and a bit faster

I disliked:

- the lack of silent button

- THE BATTERY DRAIN

So far I am quite happy with the performance of KK on the Z3 but the nerd in my of course wants the most updated, modern OS (… no need for excuses). The battery life is also very good!

Question for those who have upgraded: Do you think is worth upgrading now to 5.0 and why

All the answers will be highly appreciated.

It would also be fair to have a thread where we also praise (if there any reason) what Lollipop bings to Z series.

Cheers,

T

That's happened before. You can reinstall lollipop and it will help with the battery drain.

Overall experience of new Lollipop upgrade on my Z3 is much better than Kitkat, the build has some glitches and bugs all well known in 5.0.2 version and will be solved when we receive 5.1. Some of the stuff I really like:

- Headsup notifications and lockscreen notifications.

- Smoothness and beauty of Lollipop Material Design.

- Multi-users.

- Priority mode, this is one of the best features I use at work.

- Album art background when playing music from lockscreen.

These are some of when I really like, there are more for sure.

I have upgraded my Z3 to lollipop and so far I am very pleased.

After upgrading I have backed up and then did a software repair.

I have reinstalled all the apps. Somehow I lost my notes again but it's OK.

The phone seems to run smoother and the battery seems fine.

No overheat.

I have a HK version D6633 running on 23.1.1.E.0.1

I love the fact that I have access to the sd card, the timer is fixed :), the language switching is smooth and well positioned. The editing is better, and the notifications are very good. I have found an app called glimpse notification that wakes up briefly the screen when a notification comes in. Very useful IMHO.
