M2 - Select a home app keeps coming up

I've had this phone less than 2 months. After a couple of weeks the calendar stopped working, so I was advised to do a factory reset, which I did. This fixed the calendar, but every time I turned on the phone I was asked to 'select a home screen app'. Even though I use the 'always' option it still appeared every time I turned the phone on. Did another factory reset and got the latest update this weekend, but the same thing still happens every time I turn the phone on.

Try settings-apps-all-xperia home,clear defaults. After this,make your default selection again.

I've got to settings-apps, but don't seem tohave an `all` option.

Done that, but it says `No Defaults Set' , and i can't change that.

Can you check if the same occurs in safe mode?

Just tried that, and it doesnn't happen in Safe Mode

It means you have a 3rd party app acting up.

Thanks for the assistance So how do I go about finding out which one? I only have the same apps that I had before the problem occurred.

Do you have any task killers,battery savers? Maybe it was a simple glitch,check how it is now in normal mode.

No - nothing like that, just the usual Facebook, Twitter Instagram + things like Amazon shopping, Arriva Bus app, Sky Cricket scores, Pointless game,

Just restarted, and the problem is still occurring.

Try to clear data for xperia home and check again. If nothing works,the only thing I can suggest is a software repair.

OK - thanks for the help. I've cleared the data, to no avail. I'll try the software repair again. Otherwise i guess i'll have to try uninstalling the 3rd party apps and see if i can find which one is causing the problem.

Repair with PC companion. Not factory settings reset. Keep us updated and good luck.

It was the 'Connect to Hotmail' app causing the problem. I've uninsulated, and so have to find an alternative app instead.

I was going to suggest gmail too. But try both of the above.

Hi, thank you so much for your help.
I was having the same problem, it was the Hotmail app acting up. I removed it and it stopped showing up to choose the home or xperia screen app.
