Google Now sudden failure

Hi. Out of the blue, Google Now stopped responding to "Ok Google". Before this, I had it working perfectly from any screen. Now, when I try to retrain the voice model (say "Ok Google" three times), it doesn't hear me at all. The mic is still working in other situations, including when I tap the mic icon for a Google voice search I've tried reinstalling the Google app, and reverting back to the factory version, but nothing I try helps. Has anyone got any ideas?

Try an app preferences reset - Settings - apps tap the 3 dots then Reset app preferences then reboot and test

Also try Settings - Apps and swipe to All - locate and open Google and tap on Force stop, Clear cache and Clear data then reboot and test
