Power button is unresponsive Z3

Hey all,

So i have a 2 month old sony z3 and the power button suddenly became unresponsive, today.

Everything else is working fine on the device.

The screen begins to dim and then sleeps but instantly wakes up. So basically the device screen is on all the time now.

i think i've tried everything i could.

Is there anyone who can help me out?

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

This could be hardware or software, have you tried powering down the handset? or tried holding the Power Key and the Volume Up key until the handset vibrates once, this will initiate a restart of the device.

Try this first and then come back and let us know if the issue continues.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

The power button isn't working at all so i can't try either of the options you've suggested.

I've concluded that the device is locking automatically but it immediately wakes up, returning me to my password unlock screen.

i've already tried a factroy reset (during my panic attack).

Keep in mind that if i turn off the phone, i may not be able to turn it on again.

Any further advice?

With the power key nonfunctional, I can only really advise that you try using the Restart button located within the SIM Tray area, this is a small red button, pressing and holding it will turn the device off.

I do suggest attempting a backup using PC companion if possible, as if you turn the device off and cannot get it back on, you will have no way to get the data.

If the device does not turn back on due to the Power issue, then this is going to be hardware and the device will need to be sent through to a service agent, in such a case I suggest contacting our customer care team from within your region. Use the link in my signature to find these details.
