Hello,

I have a problem with my z1 compact and my SIM card. Phone doesn't recognize the sim card. When I restart it, it shows a dial pad for a second or two and then it disappear. I cannot write the PIN and when I go to the network it says that there is no SIM card. Also the home button and the multitasking button doesn't work. SIM card is fine and if I put some other SIM card in the phone, it doesn't recognize it.

I already had this problem and it was on the repair service but all they did was hard reset and it worked fine. I don't want to do that every couple of months. Is there any other way of fixing the issue? Is this software issue? Or hardware? I would say software, as the hard reset fixes the issue.

Please help.

Thank you

SIM card is as old as the phone. It's Micro SIM, it's not trimmed.

I did a hard reset and now everything works again. SIM is recognized, home button wokrs as it should. So there is a software problem. Anyone has any ideas about the issue?

Cheers

I've seen this before and it was an app acting up, an antivirus or taskiller

If you encounter the same issue, boot on safe mode, if your SIM card works as it's supposed to then it is a third-party app acting up

You could also try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so if you can then it's best to backup before you begin

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Thanks for all of yours replies. I already did a hard reset yesterday, so I'll have to wait until the next time it happens. I cannot connect it to the computer, because Sony doesn't want to make a linux version of PC companion and I use Ubuntu.

So it is a problem with one of the apps? But I installed all of the apps that I had before this happend and now it works nice.

I'll try safe moode before doing hard reset - next time

ps. I don't use antivirus nor taskiller.

Again hello. I might just discovered which app is joking around with my network. Yesterday I had been losing network connection. Network was unavailable every couple of minutes. It would connect back, but it was frustrating. I was using Hi Locker app and I closed it (stoped with the usage) and now network seems fine. I'm not losing the network. I cannot be sure if this one is right one with the SIM card problem, but at least it work better for now. Will be back, if I'll have more problems. Thanks
