Xperia M2 Charging Problems

So my phone won't charge properly. It charges for a while then the sony logo appears then it shuts down again. I tried to charge it for an hour but the cycle keeps on repeating. I am afraid that the battery will be damaged with that cycle. So, I unplugged it. Any suggestions on how to solve this one? Thanks!

Connect it to the charger then hold volume up and power untill it vibrates 3 times quickly then release and monitor
