Hi, just got a new Sony xperia z3 tablet (wifi), and chromecast cast screen only works for a few secs and disconnects,YouTube and avia work perfect,also can cast from websites, its just cast screen (from chromecast menu) is the problem, anyone else ?, there is 2 other android tablets and 2 moto g phones in the house, these have no problems casting to Chromecast, any idea why the z3 is acting up, thanks, also there is no cast screen in the display settings ?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Are you sure that you are casting the screen with your other devices too? Because, not many of the devices on the market are supported for this yet (see the following link):
https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6059461?hl=en-GB

And as it says in the link above, cast screen via Chromecast is currently in beta and may be a reason why it does not work perfectly.

Thank you for your reply, yes all other devices cast screen no problem, I have tried factory reset on the z3 and no joy, are other users able to cast screen from Chromecast I wonder, also the tablet is Chromecast compatible, maybe lollipop will sort it, thanks

hi, an update, theproblem was, i was using an open wifi network,, once i used encryption it worked, funny its the only item in the house that wont cast screen on an open wifi router, maybe this helps someone else, thanks, ger
