I have a nearly new Z3 compact which I cannot take anywhere for repair as I'm stuck in Sierra Leone for six months. The phone is my only access to sanity so I'm pretty fed up.

It has developed two faults in quick succession, but has not suffered any damage.

1. The headphone jack suddenly became temperamental. I have tried to clean it out but it only works when I push the jack to one side once it's plugged in, so looks like faulty contacts?

2. The phone ear speaker for normal phone calls (not using headphones or loudspeaker) suddenly became extremely quiet the other day, I can only just about hear the other person and have to be in a quiet place even then.

Can anyone help suggest fixes? Can Sony help me to get this repaired (it's under warranty)?

I have done restarts, phone reset, checked all the software permutations I can think of - nothing is working. The phone is otherwise brilliant, best smartphone I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot).

Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm afraid that given what you have said I fear that you have a hardware fault - You could try contacting Xperia care and explaining your circumstances but other than that I'm afraid we can't help - Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
