I still got some mix but important queries.

How to completely exit whatsapp and also stop it service? It eats a lot of battery. At night while sleeping I want to completey shut it down. So please advice.

I tried setting data limit and a red exclamation icon appear on the top. Now when I disabled it, its still showing the red exclamation icon. How to completely disabled data limit?

Also xperia doesnt show any 2g/3g icon and I want my phone to only use 3G network so how shall I do that?

And is there any app to display/show continuous ram/mem usage on homescreen or status bar at top?

1)To completely stop whatsapp is just pressing "Force Stop" found in the "Apps" in Settings or manually forcing stop it in the "Running" section of Apps in Settings.

2)It does not show any 3G/2G icon unless you connect to a mobile network and an established connection was made.If you want to use 3G only, go to Settings > More .. > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Change to "WCDMA Only"

3)There are lots of app that could show running background apps in the Play Store and have widgets but those apps would rather use up your RAM continuously instead. One that i think can be used is Greenify.

4)To remove the red exclamation icon, just swipe it and it will be gone forever.

1 just what I thought. But can we have shortcut cerated on desktop to simply stop it? Any app to do that?

2 I think I should choose only WCDMA as Z3 gives more standby and talktime on WCDMA.

3 ok i wont use any ram eaters

4 already figured it out

5 thanks

Happy new year to you as well..:smileyhappy:

Still some more queries....

1] What is image enhancement in display settings? Does it optimize display or captured images? Does it eat up battery?

2] I have always used nokia so xperia cam settings are confusing for me. There are 2 modes--auto and manual. Isnt there any specific mode to capture images at Night or pitch dark environment and also Close up images like of a flower or tiny insect?

Tomorrow I'm going out for tour so I need to capture images from my moving car so in which mode pr what setting is perfect to capture them/ moving objects??

3] Xperia uses Shattered proof glass so what exactly is that? Hows it compared to Gorilla glass? Isnt shattered proof also scratch proof as well? If so then why is it so delicate that users have their xperia displays cracked from front and back?

4] And which power saving mode allows limited datan transfer?

5] I want to disable some apps on starup so suggest me a descent boot/starup manager which is low on resources and does the job pretty well.

I'm answering your queries on what i know only.I own an Xperia Z1 with 4.4.4 so there's not much i know about Z3/Z3 Dual.I'm sorry if i'm not fully answring yoour querries or giving you inaccurate info.

1)You mean X-Reality mode? If so,then X-Reality for mobile is to echance photo giving a better overall look

2)To capture Night Photos/Pitch black, you could use three options, first,by using Superior Auto which optimises the condition for specific photos.Second, you could switch to Manual mode and choose either "Night Potrait,Night Scene,Handheld Twilight,or my fav,ISO High Sensitivity".Third option is by manually adjusting the iso, exposure and lighting at Manual Mode with "OFF" scene. To take close up,again you could use "Superior Auto" (which works the best, for me) or second, change to Manual Mode and change to these settings "Exposure to f2.0 and change ISO to 50" credits to @SergioPL for sharing these custom settings.

To capture moving objects again you could use "Superior Auto" or you can change to Manual Mode and choose "Sports" scene.

3)I don't really know about this but from what i heard is that Sony use Scratch-proof glass(dunno its manufacturer) with a Anti-Shatter Film, sandwiched between the glass and back plate of the phone(correct me if i'm wrong). And for those crack and shatter of phones,i have no idea.Sorry for that.

4)You could use Stamina mode or Ultra Stamina mode? Not sure about these parts as both could limit mobile data when screen is off.

5)You could force stop an apl from Settings and it will not work again, until you reopen the app.Again,i'm not pretty sure about this,too.Sorry.But you could also disable any Google/Sony apps and it won't run again unless you enabled them again and open them.

I hope that could help you with the queries eventhough its not much that i could explain 😕 Sorry again.

Really appreciate your efforts.

No matter Z1 or Z3 they both are from the same families. :smileysmileywink:

If I call and sms often my battery doesnt drain but as soon as I turn on whatsapp for an hour my battery drains by 4-6%. Is this a normal behaviour?

I have set Restrict background data incl store and chrome. But its still not helping.

Also my Used ram is always 980mb to 1.1gb and left with 590mb free of the overall 2gb.

I dont have any gadget on homescreen but just meare 4-5 basic shorcuts. No live wallpapers. No BT,wifi, gps, location etc. turned on.

I'm on wcdma pref/gsm mode though. Data is turned on manually as and when I need it.

Actually my main concern is how to get 2 days battery life as promised by Sony.

Based on what and how much usage did they calculated 2 days. If anybody can tell me I will follow the same and reply.

@Ashroft98

I returned from my tour & Xperia captured some fantastic shots: smileysmileythumbsup: Thanks for your tips.

But I still have some imp. things to worry about........

1] Yesterday I charged full battery and instantly turned On Low battery mode & Stamina mode and also Aerplane mode thus no calls/data/sms/wifi/gps etc. usage.
Thus the cell was only used for capturing images @ default 8MP and some at 15-20MP manual. 85% images were shot in daylight with flash off and the rest 15% at night with auto flash. In all I captured 330 images incl. some videos.

And end of the day my battery stands at 14%.

Hows this benchmark? Is this pretty low as compared to a normal Z3 Compact performance?? smileyraised_eyebrow:

2] Another major concern is, Ram in use is always 990mb or 1.1gb and left with 590mb free of the overall 2gb.

Why is this happening? I dont have any 3rd party apps installed apart from whatsapp for which as well I have turned on Restrict background data. Also did Restrict background data to many other apps like google play/service/ fb/chrome and whatever I dont use. Still same result of 1gb+ ram usage.
I dont have any gadget on homescreen but just mere 4-5 basic shortcuts. No live wallpapers. No BT,wifi, gps, location etc. turned on.
I'm on wcdma pref/gsm mode though. Data is turned on manually as and when I need it.
So even if i check my Battery usage stats, Screen is always using 41-47% battery even though the brightness is 40% with no animated or live wallpapers/no widget or cluttered homescreen.

3] If I call and sms often my battery doesnt drain but as soon as I turn on whatsapp for an hour my battery drains by 4-6%/hr rate. Is this a normal behavior?

4] Actually my main concern is how to get 2 days battery life as promised by Sony. Based on what and how much usage did they calculated 2 days.

5] Even worst. Just full charged the battery and now :smileyshame_on_you::smileyskull:the estimated battery life shown is mere 6 hours? How the **bleep** on earth can this be possible on any phone???

Also now the battery is dicharging very fast like 8% in an hours time even if you listen to music without any mobiledata activity.

1)Taking alot of pictures is really a power hog.Especially when you record videos(Full HD or higher). It should drain the battery quickly.Plus, the camera uses more battery when it is at standby mode(where it shows constant preview of the surrounding).

So including the apps(either 3rd party or Sony's apps) running in background combined with the Camera turned on and using Flash i think its pretty normal.

2)Thats normal.RAM if not used by 3rd party apps,it shall be used by Sony's apps, you could disable them or force stop them to prevent them from running in the background.Apps like Facebook Hangouts and Sony Select always run in background if you don't force stop them.If you really carefully stopping unnecessary apps, you could have 860MB of free RAM.

Plus, you need to restart your phone often. This is to release the "stress" on your phone.

3)Yes thats normal,just like my Z1

4)Not sure about that.Don't know how Sony tested it to get two days though 😕

5)The battery life learns your battery usage pattern. It cleverly estimate your battery life according to your previous battery usage pattern. However, you can reset them and to make your phone to re-learn your battery pattern

Go to Settings > Apps > All > Extended Standby Mode Controller > Press Clear data and restart phone.

There you go,it should show like 4 days of battery life with Stamina Mode ON.

Hope that helps
