My E1 keeps rebooting

I've had my E1 a few months. The last week or so it just keeps rebooting. If i enter my pass code, i cannot access anything on the ' desktop '. The phone freezes, then reboots. If i don't enter my passcode, it stays on that screen for a couple of seconds and then reboots.

It's the same with the SIM or without

Please don't tell me to use the PC companion because the phone isn't on long enough for it to access it.

What concerns me is that in all the threads online and on this forum, i've not read one official explanation or solution.

Have you tried to remove the microSD too?

This type of issue is normally Sim card related in that it looses connection resulting in an instant reboot so when unlocking the phone this will result in what you experience, You could try Safemode and test this theory or try with another Sim card

Sorry just noticed after re-reading you said with or without Sim so I would test what Alex said and a system repair does not require the phone to be switched on - See below for a guide

Performing a system repair using PC Companion will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

What happens to any info or pics on my phone if i do the repair ?

I have Windows 8.1 and the PCC works fine - do i still have to use the compat mode for the repair ?

All info will be delete unfotunately - If you are able to enter safemode and your phone remains switched on then info maybe recoverable,

To enter safemode when powered on hold the power button untill the power off menu appears then tap and hold power off untill you see the option to reboot into safemode an unlocked screen I don't think is required

Won't allow me to enter safe mode as there's no response when tapping the power button.

What about the compat mode thing i mentioned ?

That's for Flashmode - Normal mode works fine but flashmode may require you to run the program in compatibility mode

Seems to be a set time because i entered the passcode quickly and was able to access the messages but then it froze and restarted

* that time i managed to get the Power off menu up but there was no Safe Mode option ?

And this time i managed the screen swipe to work...then the reboot

Safemode option is long press the power button untill the options appear then long tap the power off option untill it says reboot in safemode

I can get the Safe Mode option up but as that process starts, this silly reboot kicks in and it starts up as normal

Safe Mode achieved but the reboot still kicks in.

Before i use the PCC tu try and reset this, any ideas at what could be the issue ?

And now i've just started up PC Companion, clicked on Support Zone and been told it could not be installed. Turned the firewall off and still wouldn't work.

Is there anything about Sony which works consistently ? Never had this amount of trouble with a phone or it's software.

Sorry but I have Pc Companion installed on 7 systems ranging from XP through to Windows 8.1 and all work fine so maybe it's your system and your A/Virus

Was alright yesterday. Had a google and seems to be yet another consistent problem with this set up.

The phone's going back.
