Cannot update/Download apps from the Play store

I'm experiencing a interesting problem. I cannot update or download apps from the Play store using my mobile data. It only works on Wifi. If I do try it shows it's downloading but nothing happens. It just hangs there showing "downloading". I've tried updating the playstore, resetting it and start over but nothing works. The problem is not my service provider or my data plan because I can browse the Web and download stuff as I wish. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi Emwee,

In this case I would suggest trying an automatic download.

Menu > Settings > More > Internet Settings > Accept Disclaimer > Choose network.

Once downloaded try downloading an app.

let me know how you get on.

Hi, I tried that and it failed. Tells me to go to the Sonymobile.com website to manually get the settings. I'll try that and see.

If this does fail, then you could get the settings manually from your network carrier.

I tried that as well. No go. But I've heard an interesting theory that I still need to try out. Apparently if you tried to root the phone at some point and failed to do so, that causes this problem I'm experiencing. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to him and after reloading the software it works again. That's the last resort because reloading everything is a mission but if that solves my problem then I'll have to do it. I'll let you guys know if it worked.

Make sure to try a backup of your data first using PC Companion. Simply navigate through PC Companion and find Backup & restore.

Hi... I am using Sony Xperia T2 Ultra from past three months but the fact is from past 15-20 i am unable to download anything or may b updates of my applications from play store by using my mobile data well i contact my service provider they help me out in many ways but atlast the problem is in my mobile.. So please i request to help me out of this problem

hi just bought this experia z1 2 days ago.I cant download apps from the PLAY STORE using wifi.there's a message that always everytime I try to download an apps from play store,and the message goes like this "error retrieve from the server".what should I do..thanx

I am also using sony experia z1 and its been 3 yers now, i have updated my software and now i am unable to update/download apps on play store.
