Camera not working - HELP

Hello everyone!

I have an Xpera M and my camera isn't working. When I open the camera app it says "Camera not available" or "Camera has stopped working". This started happening around September or so, and since, I've tried to do everything to fix it, but no luck. I installed a new software update, custom ROM, bootloader unlock, clear camera files... I even tried sending it to Sony Center but they didn't want to fix it because of the bootloader. I didn't drop my phone or anything, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Actually, today when I opened the camera, it was working fine, but only for a few seconds. Can someone please help me? :smileycry:It's really annoying when you can't use your camera

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Forget that you can't as your bootloader is unlocked unless you re-lock it using Flashtool - If you want to then download it and install and run then click on BLU and follow the instructions, then you will be able to follow my repair guide

Try booting on safe mode and check again .

for the camera

1)dial this in your dialer *#*#7378423#*#*

2) go to service test> camera.

3) see if it works there.

And as far as flashtool is concerned, make sure you have all the drivers installed which are necessary for flashtool to run.

When I select 'Camera' it says that the 'Service menu' app has stopped working.

All drivers are properly installed as for the Flashtool.

Only thing i can suggest is that you should try to flash a stock firmware version.

See if it works.

and make sure it is a clean install.

That's what I already did after I installed a custom ROM to see if that will make some difference, but whatever I do, it still doesn't work

Hello again!

I can't believe it! My camera is working now! It look like CM Securitiy solved my problem, I turned on the option to take a picture of the person who enters the wrong password three times. It took my picture using the front camera, and after that I opened the camera app and it was working. Also, when it asked me whether I want to enable geo-tagging, I selected 'no'. I hope this could help somebody else with the same issue

Hello,

i have the same problem, i tried everything above and even the face lock does not work:/

i'm not in my homecountry so i cant bring it to a sony support, does anyone have any other suggestion?
