Help needed. Getting constant "data roaming off " notifications on my z3c

Anyone help me out, searching for an answer for the last few days and no luck.

I've just switched from ios to android recently and I'm away on holidays now and I've switched off my data through the phone settings, but I'm constantly getting notifications every few mins telling me that "data roaming is turned off"
This is melting my head and I've tried to google but can't get an answer.
Some people say it's a bug in kitkat and you need to root your device to turn off the notifications.
I don't want to go down that road, I thought I was free from hassle when I got rid of the iPhone, jailbreaking and all that.

I'm on o2 network running android 4.4.4

Anyone experience this problem too when abroad?

Network coverage is fine.

Still getting this constant notification. "Data roaming is turned off"

Notifications matter what I do and even turn off the phone app notifications it's still coming every little while.

I have a similar issue on Z3 compact with Android 5.0.2 and Build 23.1.A.0.726

Is it possible to address this issue to Sony application development team?

I'm getting the same issue.

But let's get more details out there, so we can decide whether we need to address this issue to the phone manufacturer or the network provider.

I have the Xperia Z3 Dual. Android v. 5.0.2.

SIM 1 is my local Dubai, UAE SIM, which is on a contract with Etisalat. SIM 2 is a pay as you go deal with EE in the UK.

In Dubai, SIM 1 is active with phone and data, SIM 2 is active with phone, but data roaming is switched off. I receive no notificartions about data roaming.

In the UK, SIM 1 is active with phone, but data roaming is switched off, SIM 2 is active with phone and data. I constantly receive the "Data Roaming is Off" notifications.

I suppose, the next step would be to try swapping the SIM cards over, but then, what's the point of having a dual SIM phone?

Before I try this, I think this suggests that there is an issue with either the phone, or the OS, Android. Anyone think otherwise?

I'm going to post this in an Android support group as well, see what they say...

Any solutions, please reply!

why would the phone keep notifying data roaming is off.. it is default set to off

I guess the point is to notify user that data is off because of roaming. But the warning icon is quite misleading. I get this message from time to time, especially when switching networks.

If you get it on your local network maybe you need to enable local roaming. This is important if operator is using another operator's network within the same country.

@aier I don't know why the phone would keep putting the notifications up - I switched the data roaming off, I KNOW it is off, the thing doesn't need to keep telling me.

@Sergio, as I just said, it was my choice to switch data roaming off, I don't need the thing to remind me every few minutes.

Still nowhere nearer to getting a solution.

I shall try swapping SIM cards over and report back...

I'm not sure if swapping cards will help you, but I think it's Android stuff. I got those messages on other phones too. I think it would be better if this was "Warning: Data roaming is ON" - then it would mean something. Warning that it may ruin your wallet. And counter, how much data was transferred up/down in roaming only.

I have the same problem and I've had it with my previous Sony smartphone as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the operator. This is a bug in Sony or perhaps Android soft- or hardware and it needs to be fixed as soon as possible because it anoys the **bleep** out of me!

Any updates on this? Is this somehow being reported to the developers?

I'm using the z1, and get the same notfication every 10 seconds, and have no internet as it won't connect, any ideas?

Hi!

I jump right off in this discussion

o2 + E-Plus are together since some time. Just activate Roaming, because your Mobile Phone wants to Jump in two Operator.

Normally this isnt neccessary, can you ask your operator to send you new configuration APN ?

I have exactly the same problem with my Z3 Compact. I have been working abroad over the last 3 months, and usually have data roaming switched off to avoid daily data charges. I received constant notifications on my phone, and really annoyingly on my smartphone, that data roaming is off. I know it's off. I switched it off. I don't want it on. This did not happen with the same Sim in my previous Motorola phone. I just want to switch off the notifications. It is obviously a phone issue.

I have a Z and it's constantly giving me the notification: "Dataroaming is off."

I just feel like throwing the whole phone in the wall and scream 'I KNOW it's off, you dumbsh*t, I turned it off on purpose since I'm abroad!!"

The whole point of turning roaming off is to avoid high bills when you're out of the country. Why would Sony even make it possible to turn it off manually if they then force that notification every two minutes?
