Never heard such a thing about the motherboard being damaged from an update - All you need to do is perform a system repair see below

Performing a system repair using Pc Companion will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

i own a sony xperia s, boght it when it was released in india for around 31k, The problem is that it has been idle for two years and been using it for paper weight.

While updating my os to android 4.2, the phone got stuck and showed me no more than Sony logo displayed at start and wont go beyond that. Took it to the sony service centre, he told that the os is gone and can be repaired with a new os.

He said that He tried to reinstall the os but it wouldn't go beyond 50% And after 3 days he called me and said that the motherboard has been damaged because of that the os cannot be installed and also said that there r lots of complain about the motherboard being damaged while updating thye os isung sony pc companion software.

Want to know if he said is true or did he break it. and also need motherboard for the phone as i am not finding it anywhere.

Dont want to sell it even for parts as it is still my very favourite phone (on looks and camera).

need to get the details asap.

help needed

then how come the service centre authorised by sony said that the motherboard has been damaged and that is the reason for the phone cannot be restored back to normal.

and will there be any chance of availability of the phone's motherboard anywhere.
