I used my Z1 compact for a couple of weeks before the idea of taking the famous underwater picture ocurred to me.

I double checked the flaps were closed propperly and also had a bumper on top. went in the water. Took some pics (bad ones) for about 10 minutes, Came out of the water and started looking at the pictures I took, and suddenly the phone said the memory card was removed, al little after that the phone went off and did not turn on by pressing the power button for 1, 5 or 15 seconds

i Opened the flap to see what was goin on and the waterproof phone was of course... wet inside... so I came home and put the vacum to it for 1h and it came back to life.

Later on taking areally close look at the phone I realized the seal of the back panel wasnt tight , i can put my nail on it and pull it up, and there is where the water went through.

Now I went to orange and explained what happened, and apparently I since it got wet it lost al warranty.

Now power button is failing, the headphone jack is failing and I apparently I have no right to ask anyone to repair it for me?

Hello.

yes i took my phone to the sony care provider here.. for the vacumm test.

THey sent it on a months trip to the madrid shop for repairs...

THey charged me 30 euros for a repair budget that was 300 euros. which i of course denied

I picked up the unrepaird and warranty less water damaged water proof phone and to my surprise

THe screen now has a blemish on the front camera corner (as if there was a protective plastic that was pulled , gotten dirty and reattached to the screen)

As if that wasnt enough, the back plate has been put UPSIDE DOWN... as in the camera is now covered by the back plate and the backplate hole looks at the battery or whatever it is underneath the the low right side on the back of the phone

IM AM ABSOLUTELLY OUTRAGED of course, and the people at the service counter just said to me... well "bring it back and we'll send it on another 1 month (death) trip to madrid"

SO there is your update.. any ideas on how to make ammends with sony again??

All we can do is advise you to contact Sony and ask that this be escalated http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

Same goes for those waterproof watches, I wouldn't take a chance having them anywhere near water, but that's just me, same goes for the phone, although they say it is waterproof I always have my doubts.

Surely if the phone is damaged due to water then I can't see how you haven't got a comeback with them, best of luck.
