Hello everyone,

My Z2 is about 3 months old, and the flap on the SIM/Charging side of the phone keeps popping open. It's very strange, it's not even coming lose whem moved. If I sit my phone on my desk and leave it for a while it eventually pops out.

I've seen a lot of people online saying they just got a new set of flaps and replaced them and that solved the issue.

I never actually open up the flaps because I use the charging dock, I think I've probably only ever open it between 10 and 20 times.

My question is this.

If I replace the flaps, I assume my warranty would be voided? If so, can Sony supply or replace the flaps?

If it's a replacement and they won't let me replacement, they will need to provide me with an advanced replacement handset, as I need my phone for work.

Hi, to be 100% sure of keeping your Warranty you would have to have your local Xperia Care Centre replace the flaps....if you were to buy ones from a 3rd party online & they were genuine Sony ones would they even notice tho :smileysmileywink:

If you wanted to send of your phone, pop in to where you purchased it & they may give you a temp handset.......

I would try & find genuine Sony flaps & change them myself.....i'm sure its easy.......saves a lot of worry/hassle dealing with temp phones/repairs etc :smileysmileythumbsup:

Check for debris in and around the recesses. It doesn't take much to stop the flaps seating properly.

Could save you a load of agro.

Same here ... just started about a week ago after came back from Sony replacing motherboard .... can watch flap over USB come out by itself within a minute ... push back and and does same again ... if forget and close Sony case in when open case again the flap is all way out .... doubt it is waterproof not happy as had to set up everything again ...seems like internal pressure is building up (no junk around seals) tried taking out flap on other side but same deal...will need to take back so another week without and hours to setup ...

I purcahsed replacement flaps from a website called Replace Base. They are indistinguisable from the ones that came with the phone, are listed as OEM parts, cost £6 (about $10) took me about 10 seconds to install and completely solved the problem.

Link: http://www.replacebase.co.uk/sony-xperia-z2-port-covers-seal-plate-usb-headphone-sim-sd-replacement-black---original-6814-p.asp#.VGs8YPmsXKT

Yes, however in the UK I was told I was not able to take it to a sony repair centre and had to send it in and they would wipe the phone, so I could not do that.

Hey Folks!

Did you guys have this issue sorted yet??

Well, I have a fix for it.

Even I was facing this problem from the past few days and finally when I took a close look at the flap cover then I noticed that the wire which is covered to the flap cover which is connected to the phone used to prevent the flap to fall off, was bent a little bit. I then straightened that wire and fixed the flap cover on the phone. This resolved the problem.

Thanks,

Sathish Kalaimani

Dont know if your issue is resolved or not.
Hopefully this will save someones day.
I faced exactly the same issue. And suddenly one day the flap got stuck in my sweater and came out. Well it solved my problem because when I put it in again simply by pushing it, it stopped popping.

So just pull and remove it, the rubber cord that connects the flap and the phone is quite flexible. Clean and put it in again.

But anyways the rubber corners of the flap would wear off in a year.
