Incomplete Immersive Mode / Fullscreen still shows Navigation Buttons

Something happened to my Z3 Compact today: it seems that the Immersive Mode is not getting triggered correctly any more (by this, I mean the auto-hiding of the notification bar (top) and the navigation bar (bottom/soft keys).

Before today, when I was in the launcher home screen or in any other app (Facebook, WhatsApp etc.) and didn't touch anything for a short while, the soft keys would be hidden until I touched the screen again. Now, they are displayed permanently. Also, in games, the softkeys are only replaced by little dots (like in the Camera app), but not hidden completely.

How can I restore this functionality? I am sure it was some kind of gesture that I did unintentionally on the sceen.

Here are two screenshots of this effect from Temple Run 2:

with triggered exit from Fullscreen Mode by swiping down from top

incomplete Full Screen Mode after starting the app (soft keys at bottom should be gone like the notification bar)

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

There might be an application that you have downloaded lately that is preventing immersive mode. Did you notice that this behaviour appeared after you installed a specific application? If yes, try to uninstall it. Otherwise, have you tried to restart the phone and without opening any other app, start temple run to see if same thing happens?
