Unable to communicate with Sony Update Engine (error 10)

Hello. I know this has been asked before but I was unable to find a satisfactory answer in the forum. I'm having serious battery ptoblems with my Z1 AND my AcroS and I tried to use the "repair phone" function of the Sony PC Companion. I didn't manage to do it and I always get the message "Unable to communicate with Sony Update Engine (error 10)". I tried several times, on different days and on different computers. Latest version Java installed. Firewall disabled. Nothing. A process that should be a breeze cannot be completed. Very frustrating. Why is this? I need a solution for this problem that works. Thank you.

Hi. Yes, I've seen this and frankly it wasn't helpful at all. I get the same error at any of times, at any computer, with my phone connected or not. It's useless. Anyway, I replaced the batteries of the phones (yes, in the Acro S two) with new ones bought from ebay and they are working fine now. Still, it's infuriating that the PC companion can't run the repair mode. Bad for Sony.
