Unlocking bootloader Xperia SP

Not able to unlock bootloader on my Xperia SP. When i try to update the S1 fastboot driver as showen on the youtube video posted on sony's site i'm getting a message that says that it's not able to install driver 'cause i looks like the hash-code, or part of it, is missing. Want to upgrade to kitkat but it seems difficult. Been able to root it by using towelroot, but it stops there. Installed quick root app for recovery start but that doesn't work either.

What can i try next?

Is that Windows 8.1 on the PC your XSP is conected to? If yes, you need to switch off checking drivers signature.

not sure if you think rooting will allow Sony to update your device to KK as this will not happen - You have either been misinformed or have been reading about custom roms, if the latter is the case then visit XDA about custom roms and how to install such things

Easy method number 1: Cyanogemod 11

Easy method number 2: Paranoid Android

I installed the first option at first and it was a huge inprovement over these terrible roms from Sony. The latest version turned out to be a bit laggy and it doesn´t get developed anymore so I desided to go for the Paranoid Android. After a day of use it has turned out to be way lighter than Cyanogemod. Both work just fine and way better than Sony roms.

No need to unlock the bootloader but you have to root to be able to install the recovery to get the whole thing started.
