Xperia Z2 water inside camera

So my phone got wet for the first time last week.

a 1/2second 10cm dunk into warm water.

Boom, 5 minutes later I can't work out my fuzzy pics tIll I realise the camera lense is full of condensation/water.

tried the drying out with caps off, no better.

I am a bit annoyed that my "waterproof" phone cant cope with a quick dunk in shallow water.

Bit rubbish, no!?

Sony want me to send it off now...so i will be without a decent phone for who knows how long now

Sorry to hear that but you will have to ask them how long, more or less, it will take them to repair your phone.

Make sure to ask Sony to perform a vacuum test.

Try opening the tape and record 4k serval times it might work for u some ppl had the same problem and 4k recording worked

This is true but at the end of the day even if it does dry out you will still have a non waterproof phone, therefore follow Phy & Uliwoolys advice & make sure you ask for the Vacuum Test :smileysmileythumbsup:

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago I'm trying to contact Sony but I bought my phone from Saudi Arabia and I am currently in Australia for a while

I do love the sony Xperias.

In general it was a good move from Samsung.

But so far:

its not waterproof, i dunked it for abotu 3 seconds in clean water to take a pic and had to wait a week for the camera lense to dry out

Then last weekend the rear glass shattered. All by itself.

Sat on the sofa, phone on sofa cushion next to me and me and the wife hear a cracking.

I pick up the phone to be "bitten" by it, i flip it to find the rear glass shattered! AND a bunch of glass splinters in my hand!

Currently got masking tape on it!!

Not impressed by the "shatterproof" glass and its being "waterproof"

So as with some others, the rear glass shattered all by itself.

I was sat next to it while it sat happily on a cushion on the sofa. My wife could hear the cracking and asked if that was my phone...

I picked it up, received some nice glass splinters and was amazed to find the back of the phone looked as though it has been hit with a hammer!?

As my camera had also misted up recently after its first and only 5 second dip in water, I sent it back to Sony for repair/inspection.

After SEVEN days of it being "examined" they have quoted me £215 for the repair!?

Er, no. I am not paying for your problem to be fixed Sony. (and I am not paying £22 for you to return it still broken AND a danger to use due to the broken glass)

I am just popping this message up on the board as I know others have had same problem and got it fixed under warranty, and this gave me hope, thus sending mine in.

if it was damaged/accidental damage i would use my insurance, I dont mind, I just want my phone repaired and my insurance has a tiny excess.

other than the fact its a fault with this phone, the glass is advertised as "shatterproof" and the phone as "waterproof"....both which I have without trying hard AT ALL, proved false.

Sort it out Sony.

(oh and I would like my phone back too please)

sony have now had my phone for 6 weeks.

Why don't they communicate with the customer...the one paying them?!
