topic SBH80: cannot switch on any more in XPERIA archive

I bought the SBH80 a month ago. I used it every day for running and sometimes in the office. Up to now it worked flawlessly, however, there was a certain lag in response from my mobile device (Xperia V) when I used the SBH80 controls for which I blame some buffer in the Xperia V instead of the SBH80.

Today I encountered the problem that it won't switch on, i.e., a long press on the power button just gives a short vibe and a green LED flash but the device stays powered down. This behavior did not change after charging until the green LED lights up.

Reset, i.e., pressing the answer button while charging, gives a vibe and intermittent green and red LED flashes but power on still fails. The strange thing is, that the device is not completely dead (it still flashes green vibrates when pressing the power button, however, shorter than it used to when it still was okay).

That's quite odd, what if you charge it then try reseting the headphones? does this happen with other phones?

http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/sbh80/userguide_EN_SBH80_2.pdf (page 6)

That was the first thing I did when I realized the strange behavior. When I press the answer button in charge mode I get two short vibes. When I try to turn the device on, however, there is just a short vibe and a green flash but the device stays dormant. When I hold the power button there is a vibe and a green flash every three seconds but no power on.

The normal powerup cycle would involve a long vibration accompanied by the green LED.
