Z2 refurbishment check

Hello
I asked my brother to buy the Xperia z2 for me and I just found he bought it from a 3rd party
I just want to check if the phone is new (IMEI method) because I can see a slight scratch under the screen.

Note: I did not drop it.

No way to know if it's refurbished - You'd have to ask the seller or contact Xperia care and enquire as to whether or not the IMEI number has previously been registered http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
