Android Version Update

I have just completed the most bizzare "help" chat with a SONY Care Rep.

I explained I have been using Windows version 8.1 for close to a year now and when I received a message on my SONY Xperia C5306 phone that an update is required to Build Number 12.1.A.0.266, I attemped to do so using PC Companion. The result was a message advising that it was not possible on Windows 8.1.

My SONY Care Rep. suggested I find a friend that has Windows 7 that can assist. It confounds me that updates are being pushed to SONY Users who are unable to utilize given they are using a Windows version which has been on the market for over a year and continues to be preloaded in all PC's being sold. I refuse to install Windows 7 for this purpose. I suggested SONY stores as an alternate to assist and was advised this is not their pupose. It was explained the update is not mandatory.

Accepting the fact I will be without the update, I asked how I can have the update message cleared from my phone. The SONY Care Rep.'s solution again was, find a friend with Windows 7 to perform the update, otherwise the message will not clear.

A company attempting to compete with Apple should have the foresight to have alternate methods available to Users for updating their phones or should have a solution after at least year of Windows 8.1 being on the market. No more SONY for me in future and to have Care Rep. suggest I rely on someone else to assist me is remarkable. The Care Rep. also asked me if there was anything else they could help me with. They provided no help what so ever.

I have the Xperia SP C5306, I don't seem to be able to locate in list of drivers available. Can you assist me in locating the correct download for my purposes? Thanks.
