from past few days I'm noticing that whenever my 6 months old Xperia M Dual is ringing (for any incoming call) or playing Walkman; the sound output is considerably less. then I found that only the backside speaker is producing sound while ringing or playing music/video, not the front speaker. as a result I'm missing few incoming calls while the phone is kept on a bed/sofa/table as the back side speaker is in a covered positiion then. Though the front side speaker is producing sound while making calls, but I want to make it active while the phone is ringing or I'm playing music/video on the phone.

is it a setting problem or problem with the phone! PLEASE HELP.

first of all this is not a problem...... yeah I agree that after updating to 4.3 speaker volume become low

and the thing u dont knw is front speaker is not used for ringing or music playback only the backside speaker is used for that purpose whether its sony Samsung lg or micromax
the front speaker is only used for call purpose u can still activate backside speaker by putting ur phone on speaker-phone mode and doing this ur front speaker will not work for communication
both speakers cant work simultaneously
front speaker is a low power speaker if it works for ringing purpose then its useless because u cant notice it
hope u understood me

I have the same issue. It's a software bug since last firmware update. The phone sometimes uses the frontal speaker instead the back loudspeaker. It's not hardware. I check this with the diagnostic tool for xperia.
